Thermal Calculations

Thermal calculations which scrutinise behaviour caused by differences in temperature can be used to study solid bodies as well as the flow surrounding such bodies. Both planes are often so closely interrelated that an integrated approach is logical. The processes have an impact on one another and cannot be examined separately.

During thermal analysis, TECOSIM calculates and examines heat transfer by

  • Heat conductance (depending on the material's thermal conductivity)
  • Convection (transportation by a flow)
  • Radiation (propagation of waves)

During calculations, we can also take into account chemical processes (endothermic and exothermic reactions) which occur due to combustion or due to phase transitions, such as melting-solidification or condensation-vaporisation.
