The TECOSIM Group is specialised in engineering services for product development. It is a market leader in numerical calculation and simulation (CAE) and a provider of development processes and software. This internationally active group has five branches in Germany. It also has further locations in India, Japan, Romania, the UK and the US.
With a team of about 600 engineers worldwide, TECOSIM creates solutions for transport, energy, industry & technology and health. With the aid of CAE in the early stages of product development, specialists simulate the behaviour of components under different environmental influences and then visualise the result.
TECOSIM’s development services and products improve people’s lives with regard to safety, comfort and the environment. This is expressed in our brand promise: “engineering better living”.
TECOSIM is one of the few development partners which has specialised exclusively in computer-aided engineering.
Innovation driver
TECOSIM is one of the key innovation drivers in the CAE industry. The development, nurturing and marketing of new ideas are firmly embedded in our processes. We are also continually working on a number of research projects, the findings of which represent a milestone in product or process optimisation and open up new fields of application.
TECOSIM works together in close cooperation with different universities. Some projects are funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
Examples of research projects implemented by TECOSIM
Improvement to a laminated safety glass model to optimise pedestrian safety in the event of a head crashing onto a windscreen. Squeaking brakes on road vehicles, bicycles and trains come outside the comfort range for human hearing. They are thus regarded as a quality defect. Increasing complexity calls for adapted development methods.
TECOSIM has completed a research project on numerical analysis and evaluation of friction-induced vibrations, which it undertook in collaboration with the IPEK - Institute for Product Development at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
TECOSIM took part in a study on the lifespan of offshore wind turbines, working with partners such as the University of Hull (UK). One focus was on the turbine monopile structure, i.e. the foundation which extends from the base of the turbine tower, beneath the water and down to the sea bed. The study was successfully completed in summer 2022.
TECOSIM is also involved in three rotor blade development research projects funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. The engineers are assessing the strength and lifespan of new material types using their own verification process. The experts assess CT scan data with image recognition and use artificial intelligence to classify deviations in dimensions.
Calculation of resonance behaviour in a cast frame to optimise acoustics in a grand piano.
Quality
Maximum quality and information security are one of the company's key goals. The company's engineers seek to demonstrate that TECOSIM is the go-to company for engineering services and numerical calculation and simulation on a daily basis. All employees therefore constantly strive to ensure quality, which is also firmly embedded in our processes. Our quality management has been certified to ISO EN 9001:2015 and our information security to ISO 27001 by TÜV Rheinland.
Internal teams are consistently working on developing standards further. Quality assurance tools such as internal audits, intranet-based knowledge management, manuals, reports, customer surveys and target agreements help employees and management guarantee a high standard of quality.
