TECOSIM CFD specialists generate complex simulation models which calculate solutions for the overall flow field based on differential equations and finite element analysis (FEA) or the finite volume method (FVM).
The models consist of a large number of calculation points – often several million – which are used to determine the values for different factors such as speeds, pressure and temperature. The flows to be calculated may be laminar or turbulent, ranging from compressible and incompressible through to supersonic levels. Thermal flows can also be mapped at the same time, including chemical reactions, phase transformations or the mingling of different mass flows.
