Optimisation

TECOSIM identifies the potential for the optimisation of a structure (component or component assembly) using various numerical optimisation procedures, in order to achieve design improvements or to support totally new design.

During early development stages, we use topology optimisation techniques to identify a structure with appropriate strength and rigidity characteristics, within the defined design space. For form and/or shape optimisation, the coordinates of the FE model are integrated into the optimisation process as design variables. Therefore, variations are being applied to the topology of the FE-mesh.

Parameter optimisation relates to an automatic solution with mostly multiple parameters in order to get the best performance. To achieve this, the parameters are diversified in a way that enables certain values or a certain function to obtain an Optimum. In case of a target being definable as a linear function, we perform linear optimisations. In the usual case of non-linear physics or non-linear target functions we successfully apply non-linear optimisation procedures.
